ABOUT ME

My journey to becoming a manual therapist was a long one. I originally trained as an academic, gaining my PhD in Philosophy. It was an incredible experience - I became a published author, taught at universities in the UK and Canada, and got to travel all over the world to present my ideas at conferences. But deep down I had the niggling feeling that this career path wasn't really for me. Following a back injury which left me completely unable to walk, I had somewhat of an epiphany in A&E - I knew that what I needed was the power of touch, and yet all the doctors around me were only interested in what they could prescribe to numb the pain. That night I decided to retrain. I first qualified as a Massage Therapist, then as an Osteopath, and I am currently training with SIRPA (Stress Illness Recovery Practitioners’ Association) to broaden my skillset even further.

Yoga and movement, on the other hand, have been a huge part of my life for many years. After submitting my PhD, I escaped to Sacred Sounds Yoga, a wonderful yoga school in New York City (sadly now closed due to the pandemic), to take some time out and deepen my practice. I trained as a teacher there, and so now it is my great privilege to be able to share my practice with you. Since then, my work in injury rehabilitation has shown me first-hand that movement needs to be accessible to all, and I am dedicated to making that a reality.

Outside of my work, I adore cooking - food is a source of nourishment and joy, and I love how it brings people together. I'm also mum to two gorgeous little boys, and you will often find us romping on the Sussex Downs with our bonkers border collie.

My teaching and treatments emphasise movement and touch as fundamental to human health. I look forward to sharing this empowering approach with you.
